A Miracle Berry Update
Well, it’s been two years since my last Miracle Berry experiment and, now that I’m starting this website up again, I’ve decided to give it another shot. Thankfully, I still have my mberries from last time!
This time I’m joined by my roommate, Meghan, and we’re trying a few different alcohols:
Bruichladdich Port Charlotte Heavily Peated 10 Year Single Malt Scotch
Frangelico
Duncan Taylor Politician Blended Scotch Whisky
Jose Cuervo Silver
Matchbook Distilling Rituals (neutral grain spirit distilled with palo santo)
Here’s what we think!
We’re starting with Matchbook’s Rituals. Wow. Despite 40%, and sure, you can FEEL the alcohol, you can’t taste it. It tastes lightly sweet, very piney, with a citrus note.
Next up is Jose Cuervo Silver. Meghan will be describing this one. Only a little alcohol on this one. The agave really comes through.
Duncan Taylor’s Politician Blended Scotch. Very little alcohol flavor, but also very little flavor. None of the fruit characteristics that it should be showing. Really, very dull.
Bruichladdich Port Charlotte. Flavor is starting to come back, so now I need to drink more of this one lol. Not a problem, seeing as how this is my house drink anyway. Meghan says: Icky. It tastes like sadness filtered through a sock. It looks like how my mother looks at me… disappointment. Well, folks, you heard it here first! I like this drink though, so clearly diff’rent strokes!
Frangelico: Like chocolate milk. No alcohol. Sweet, beautiful, “chocolate and happiness” says Meghan.
Alright, experiment number 2 with the Mberry was a rousing success! We’ll have to try this again soon!
